Security Sensors

Security sensors Are An Important Need

Security sensors pertain to those sensors used for various security functions. They include the sensor for door window contact, with and without magnets. Anyone trying to manipulate these areas will be detected. Unwanted intrusion or trespassing needs to be avoided with these security sensors.

The water or flood sensor is a security sensor. These are used for the detection of leaking water from pipes and bathrooms. The security sensor is placed in the subfloor areas under computer rooms, telephone equipment rooms, laundry rooms, near water storage tanks, near drip troughs of paint dispensing systems and X-ray Units, near evaporative air conditioners or drains. Small leakages of under 1/16 of an inch can be detected. This early leakage if detected can speed up the necessary repairs and prevent further damage. Suddenly rising flood waters can be brought under the surveillance of a security sensor, the flood detector. This has cables which are stretched out along the flat surface for water detection. They are connected to a central detector. The water will be detected as soon it begins rising. An alarm will be sounded. Immediate response will definitely prove useful. A number of lives can be saved by timely response.

The glassbreak detector and glassbreak shock sensor are two other security sensors. The incorporation of a microphone helps the security sensor to set off an alarm when it hears the sound of breaking glass. In better varieties of security sensors, the shock waves produced set off the alarm. A thump must be heard before the glassbreak. If a glassbreak is heard before the thump, an alarm is not sounded. This reduces the number of false alarms.

The thermal sensor is a security sensor which detects the rising temperature as in a fire. This security sensor alerts the neighborhood and the owner early enough for apt response. The smoke sensor which is another security sensor detects the whirls of smoke which rise above it.

The pet immune motion detector is pet friendly. Owners of pets need not worry about leaving the pets at home with a security sensor. This security sensor permits the movement of the pet around the house but reacts when a human being intrudes. The Passive infra-red technology is the usual technique involved. The security sensor detects the motion by measurement of the heat emission from the body of the intruder. The amount of emission from the body of the human and pet will be different.

A barking-dog alarm which is meant to chase prowlers or thieves away is another security sensor. The sound of the dog gives the impression that a dog is in the house. Remember the movie 'Home Alone I'? The little boy escapes from thieves by putting on a recording of a dog barking. Doorbell ring detectors, horns and sirens are other security sensors.

Old people living alone and having some handicaps may require some of these security sensors.
A mail alert system is a security sensor available to inform them when they get new mail in their mail box which may be situated away from their house or outside their door. They do not have to check daily. Any of the security sensors can be installed for their safety and convenience.

Security sensors are needed in large establishments, business centers and military campuses. Motion detectors, vehicle sensors, security cameras, window and door alerts are necessary and general surveillance is of prime importance in these places.

The security sensors are hard wired, wireless, passive infra-red sensors, microwave sensors and combinations of technologies. Each day newer combinations of security sensors are taking over. The wireless security sensors are easy to install and show better functioning as time goes on. Installing a new security sensor in a home hardly takes one hour. Dismantling when the residence is shifted and installing in the new home is as easy. False alarms are lesser with each new security sensor.

Security cameras are also established in large complexes to manage the security. A new trend in the finished look of a security sensor has caught up with everyone. Previously security sensors were not 'disguised'. The box like appearance conveyed the correct message of a security sensor in place. However now, these security sensors are covered up in porch lights, room lights, New England lanterns, floodlights, color cameras and whatever so as to provide that aesthetic appeal. Moreover one does not associate these with security. Just like clothes and furniture, security sensors have become trendy!
